Resurfacing is our proprietary system that gently sands light scratches, scuffs, ground-in dirt, and dullness away. It does NOT affect the color (other than brightening) and does NOT sand away precious wood. This process can be used on any type of wood and is also our most cost-effective service. It starts at only 99¢ per square foot. Most projects can be completed in hours, rather than days.
Refinishing means sanding your floors down to bare wood, re-staining them to your color of choice, and applying polyurethane. If oil-based polyurethane is desired, we will apply 2 coats and lightly sand between coats. With water-based poly; 3 coats are used with light sanding between coats 1 and 2 and scuffing between coats 2 and 3. Of course we “tack” (clean the dust) prior to each coat. This is the method most are familiar with; it takes 2 to 4 days and provides the homeowner with a finish that is as close to perfection as possible. Our hardwood floor refinishing services price low and therefore are our most affordable.
We’ll walk you through the benefits of both resurfacing and refinishing to make sure you select a service that fits your needs. Some people aren’t bothered by a deep scratch here or there in their hardwood floors and don’t see the “added value” with the extra expense of removing the deep scars. If you have pets or children, then removing ALL scratches may only last you temporarily before your floors are scratched again. Resurfacing may be the right decision in these cases, helping you to protect your long-term investment. Give us a call and we’ll answer any questions you may have without pushing you into a service that you don’t need.
To maintain the beauty of your hardwood floors, be sure to clean pet accidents when they’re fresh. If cleaning with the steps outlined below doesn’t fix the problem area, then the urine has probably soaked into your flooring and more serious hardwood floor restoration work will be required. We are fairly confident in our ability to conquer any pet stain, but contact us to determine the severity of your stain.
White Vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 4 parts water). Prepare a spray bottle for the little, everyday accidents and a bucket for the bigger stains. Scrub stains thoroughly. After you’re sure its clean, wipe it completely dry. Then, dry it again. Beware of ammonia in cleaners; pet urine actually contains ammonia, and if your pet smells the ammonia where they last had an accident, they are more likely to want to relieve themselves in that same spot next time.
This process creates very little dust. Equipment mounted vacuums pull the majority of the dust and what remains is a very light coating of dust on the floor. Absolutely no airborne dust is generated. The remaining dust on the floor is vacuumed up, then the surface is cleaned with tack rags.
For resurfacing, we use only waterborne products that are “Greenguard” certified. The only smell is a very light, pleasant aroma.
